Motion for Election of Speaker:

The following Motions were moved:

  1. Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister   moved the following Motion: “That Shri Ajay Maken a Member of this House be chosen as the Speaker of this House.” Dr. Yoganand Shastri seconded the Motion.

 

  1. Shri Bheeshm Sharma moved the following Motion: “That Shri Ajay Maken a Member of this House be chosen as the Speaker of this House.” Shri Jile Singh Chauhan  seconded the Motion.

 

  1. Shri Raj Kumar Chauhan, Minister of Development moved the following Motion: “That Shri Ajay Maken a Member of this House be chosen as the Speaker of this House.”  Shri Rama Kant Goswami  seconded the Motion.

 

  1. Shri Mangat Ram Singhal, Minister of Industries   moved the following Motion: “That Shri Ajay Maken a Member of this House be chosen as the Speaker of this House.”   Shri Naseeb Singh  seconded the Motion.

 

  1. Dr. Jagdish Mukhi moved the following Motion: “That Shri SP Ratawal a Member of this House be chosen as the Speaker of this House.”  Shri Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal   seconded the Motion.

 

 

 

The Motion moved by the Chief Minister was put to vote.

The opposition Members asked for division.

The Chair asked the Members to raise their hands and indicate their vote.

46 Members raised their hands in favour of the Motion and 19 against.

The Chair announced that the Motion moved by the Chief Minister was adopted.

The Speaker (pro tem) congratulated the new Speaker.

 

The Chief Minister and the Leader of Opposition escorted Shri Ajay Maken, the new Speaker to the Chair.

The following Motions were moved:

          Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri called the attention of the Chief Minister towards the problems faced by the people of Delhi due to the confusion arising out of the implementation of Conditional Access System (CAS) for cable television in Delhi.
